Ain't no foolin'...back on this day in 1991, Jerry, Bruce, and the rest of the boys finished off the two-night run at the Greensboro Coliseum in spectacular fashion with a Straw opener and a sweet Bird Song to end the first set. In the second they hit nirvana with an inimitable China> Rider and the rest of the Dark Star and Playin' that they had started the night before. Springtime in the South was very good to the boys! Listen and watch the entire show at Grateful Dead of the Day.
Here we have two hours of Jerry and Phil spinning records and talking music and everything else with Tom "Big Daddy" Donahue on San Francisco's KMPX back in 1967. As Jerry says on the recording, "far out!!!" Check it out.
To open the second set on April Fool's Day in 1993, Phil pranked Jerry by having Barney the purple dinosaur come out and play Iko Iko in his stead . As Phil relates, "the expression on his face was that of a man who didn’t believe what he was seeing - a very rare situation for him." Read more about the events and listen to the show. And watch the April Fool's joke on Jerry in stunning clarity on the video.
