With an insatiable Music Never Stopped, a super disco-fied version of Dancing in the Streets, and a couple cheesy Bobby jokes, the show from this day in 1978 at the fabulous Fox Theater is a hot one. Give the entire show a listen at Grateful Dead of the Day.
The music from this relatively unknown show is phenomenal. Pig is a total badass on a killer Hard To Handle, intense Good Lovin', and righteous Midnight Hour. And Jerry and Bobby are ferocious throughout the night, no more so than on the high-grade China>Rider, Cumberland that opens the second half. And the scene - a small, conservative town in the middle of Amish country with the boys playing the local college's prom night - couldn't have been more odd. Listen to it all and read more.
With a Shakedown opener; an Iko>Looks Like Rain to open the second half, a Box Of Rain> He's Gone before Drums, and Other One> Black Peter out of Space, and a Baby Blue encore, this is a fantastic 1987 show to take in on video.
