On this day in 1978, some enterprising Deadheads at Duke University broadcasted, taped, photographed, and filmed one of the hottest Dead shows of the year - including an Estimated> Eyes and Truckin'> Wharf Rat that is truly the music of the gods - at their own beloved Cameron Indoor Stadium. On this day in 1970, none other than Miles Davis - having just released Bitches Brew - opened for the Dead at the Fillmore. After watching Miles, Phil wanted to “go home and try to digest this unbelievable shit.” But play the Dead did, unleashing a powerful three-set show of their own, including an all-time great Dancin’ In The Streets.
