From Grateful Dead of the Day
On this day in 1972, the Dead played a Danish college cafeteria, complete with students hanging from the rafters. The whole show is tasty - as is all of Europe '72 - but be sure to check out the Truckin> Other One insanity, as the Dead head off into some incredibly stirring territory. In anticipation of Brent's first show, the Dead went into the studio for a practice session on this day in 1979. The playing was scintillating as the boys put Brent through the paces of some serious jams, including a luscious Scarlet> Fire. Perhaps the rest of the band was testing Brent a bit. If they were, he passed with flying colors. Listen to the entire session.
With a Bird Song to end the first set, a Scarlet> Fire to open the second, one of two 1989 Saint Of Circumstances, an Other One> Stella out of Space, and a Box of Rain encore, this show from The Mecca is a fantastic one to enjoy on remastered video!
