On 4/20 back in '84, the Dead played the Philadelphia Civic Center, opening with a sizzling Stranger followed up by an inimitable Cold Rain and Snow. But it was the Let It Grow first set closer that took the first half, while a Scarlet> Fire and huge Morning Dew highlight the second. On 4/20 in 1969, the Dead played an intimate 640-seat venue at Clark University, opening for Roland Kirk. With classic '69 flair, they sent out a monster Dark Star, an impeccable Death Don't Have No Mercy, and a bawling Lovelight.
