With a 36-minute Other One and a 29-song show, the boys continued their assault on Europe on this day back in '72. Pigpen delivers a deeply emotional Two Souls in Communion and a ripping Lovelight, which, in addition to the TOO, provides some of the highlights of the night. Listen to it all and read more about Two Souls in Communion on Grateful Dead of the Day.
Another night in '77 and another unbelievable show. An insane Half Step and equally ridiculous Dancin' are worth the price of admission in themselves, but there is so much magnificence here. Give a sharp audience recording of the show a listen. And what a treat it is to have a remastered snippet from that show on video. The vid opens with Estimated Prophet and Deal, which are the one-two punch at the end of the first set. The video continues with the first four tunes of the second set, including a stratospheric Dancin' In The Streets, before cutting out at the beginning of an Eyes Of The World. Watch that segment here.
On this date back in '69, the Dead played a phenomenal night of music at the Electric Theater in Chicago. The evening had everything from a 33-minute Lovelight to a beautiful and oh-so melancholy Dew to a raging psychedelic Viola Lee> Caution Jam> Viola Lee. Give all the face-melting music a listen.
