At the Centrum on this day, the Dead delivered one of the best nights of Spring Tour '88. Despite a cold and rainy night capping a lousy week of weather, Bobby was fired up and in full-on rock star mode all night, nailing his vocals and playing to the crowd. The Grateful Dead opened their Europe '72 campaign with a stunning night in London on this day. They would go on to play 21 more nights across the continent, but the first evening is something special, laying the groundwork for the rest of that magical tour. Cue it up now!
A fun cover of the Beatles' Why Don't We Do It In The Road kicks off the front half that also includes a lovely Birdsong and fiery Deal. The second half of this 1985 show at the Spectrum begins with a Shakedown, rocks a Man Smart (Woman Smarter) into Drums, and has a massive post-Space segment, anchored by a soaring Morning Dew.
