The Greek runs in the 80s gathered the Deadhead tribe like no other. But, after 29 shows at the venue stretching back to 1967, the Dead played their last one there on this day in 1989. Like so many of the Greek dates over the years, today's show is a smoker. The second set literally never lets up from the feverishly magisterial China Cat opener through the Playin'> UJB> Playin' on to the steal your face MIDI-infused Other One and all the way to the thundering NFA closer. Listen to the goodness at Grateful Dead of the Day.

Back on this day in 1970, the Dead played a lengthy and beautiful acoustic set that just abounds in don't miss moments, from Pig's boogie woogie upright piano on Truckin' to Cocaine Blues's high lonesome sound to all the incredible vocal harmonizing. And the band followed that up with an amazing electric second half, kicked off by Bill Graham's intro - "sometimes known as the Kodiak woodchuck motherfuckers, the Grateful Dead" - and capped by a raging thirty-minute Lovelight with David Crosby. Take it all in.
