A very happy birthday to Donna! To celebrate her day, head over to Grateful Dead of the Day, read our bio, and listen to a few of her best performances.
In the middle of a four-night run at the Berkeley Community Theater, the boys delivered another stunner on this day in '72. The whole show is great - with some awesome Jerry banter - but that hour of music - Truckin' through Stella - in the second set is extraordinary. The Other One in the middle is, simply by its range and length, mind melting. But throw in the countless inimitable runs, spacey explorations, and Phil’s ever-present bass, and you are looking at thirty minutes of absolute bliss. Give it all a good listen at Grateful Dead of the Day.
Jerry busts out a long solo in the opening Jack Straw to kick off one of the hotter shows of 1993. Still, it is the Help> Slip> Franklin's to open the second set and the magisterial Days Between that really make this show, the second of a two-night run in Eugene, which also saw Jerry debut Lightning Bolt, his Steve Cripe-designed guitar. Check out the music and read more.
