On this night in '71, the Dead begin the second set with Stephen and take it into a bluesy, driving Truckin'. A rare and altogether steamy Other One> Me and My Uncle> Other One also comes out, and the set is capped by a magnificent Morning Dew. But the first half is not to be missed with one of the best Hard to Handles of all time. Oh yeah...don't forget the 27-minute Lovelight encore. Listen to all the face-melting magic at Grateful Dead of the Day.
With the Wall of Sound at their backs, the Dead blew away the Roosevelt Stadium crowd on this day in '74. A 20-minute Eyes and Playin'> Scarlet> Playin' are the cream of the early going. But it is the latter half of the second - a non-stop roller coaster from Sugar Mags, through He's Gone> Truckin'> Spanish Jam> Other One> GDTRFB> Sunshine Daydream - that is the crux of the night. Give this high-energy stunner from dirty Jerz a good listen.
