Back in July of ‘86, Jerry had slipped into a diabetic coma. Five days later, he awoke, but had lost many basic functions, making it unclear whether he would ever be able to play the guitar again. Jerry, being Jerry, quickly reacquired his musical abilities and, rather miraculously, took the stage a few short months later. This show is the final, and best, evening of the band’s first three-night return run. The Ship of Fools, He's Gone, and Black Peter - "one more day, I find myself alive" - here are deeply emotional, as is the beautiful Brokedown encore. Give it all a listen at Grateful Dead of the Day.
With a Help> Slip> Franklin's and an Attics, the boys dial it up on this day in 1993 and make good on the promise of the setlist. Take in this remastered video and crisp audio of the show.
