The Dead stormed through a short December '81 Midwest swing, playing some of their most inspired music of the year. On this day they charged into Indy, opening with a roaring Alabama Getaway. Elsewhere in the first set, be sure to check out the Elvis-like speed in the latter half of CC Rider and the brilliant Bird Song> Let It Grow. And the second set is just as hot with a sensational Shakedown, a spooky Space rising into The Wheel all sandwiched in Playin', and an absolutely stunning Stella.
