On this day in 1973, the Dead played a 45-minute Dark Star that is arguably the best ever. But what occasionally gets lost in all the discussion and debate about the Dark Star is that the rest of the show is absolutely top-shelf material, including the Eyes> Stella that flows out the back end of that monster DS. Listen to the show in its entirety at Grateful Dead of the Day.
The video and the soundboard audio is crisp on this one. And the video provides some nice close-ups of the band while also providing a healthy dose of the audience rocking out. Give this sweet '92 show a watch at Grateful Dead of the Day.
Blasting through a blizzard to get to that 1992 show on this date was hair-raising. But that opening Here Comes Sunshine made it all worthwhile for Tom Ribe. Listen to him tell the tale on the Head’s Tales podcast.
The Socrates of saxophone, the minister of soul, the Big Man himself, Clarence Clemons, took the stage with the Grateful Dead on this day in 1989. Read all about Clarence's time with the Dead and close relationship with Jerry and Bobby and listen to the show.
