A wonderful morning to you all. We hope that you can feel the love all day long on this Valentine’s.
The Valentine's 1968 show is the joyous, bacchanalian embodiment of raw, unreserved psychedelic energy, the mainline of straight up primal Dead. Dedicating the show to Neal Cassady, who had passed away ten days prior, the boys did the Merry Prankster extraordinaire proud, creating a seismic kaleidoscope of acid-drenched loveliness. Listen to it all at Grateful Dead of the Day.
There is nothing to see here except the Grateful Dead at their ordinary 1969 best, a splendid show served up with the standard helpings of Dark Star, Stephen, and The Other One. Cue this one up and enjoy it with your valentine!
Anytime you get a chance to actually watch the Grateful Dead in 1970, you should take it. And this remastered forty-minutes of magic, including a Dark Star and Pig on Hard to Handle, has been lovingly restored. So click on over and take in this incredible video.
Happy Birthday to Michael Doucet, one of the founders of the Grammy-winning Cajun band, BeauSoleil! Michael's band joined the Dead on stage on Fat Tuesday back in 1990, read more about BeauSoleil and their time with the Grateful Dead and listen to what they cooked up together.
