The boys absolutely torched Keith and Donna's last show on this day in 1979. Right out of the gate Bobby storms into Greatest Story Ever Told with Jerry following behind blazing a funky, interstellar sound and the crowd roaring its approval. A hot Might as Well opens the second half, which, once they bust into the Terrapin, advances from merely mind blowing to truly unreal as the whole band seems to provide a beautiful musical sendoff for the Godchauxs. Listen to the entire show and read more at Grateful Dead of the Day.
Early in the 1988 campaign, the Dead deliver a heady show. The band gets the crowd dancing from the start with a fun Hey Pocky Way and then proves they are ready to really blow minds with a stellar Desolation Row. Later on, a "we want Phil" chant results in a stellar Box of Rain. Check it all out over at Grateful Dead of the Day.
After a stellar, but choppy first set with a snappy Minglewood, evocative Sugaree, and funky Man Smart Woman Smarter in the first set of the show on this day in ‘82, the Dead come back with an absolutely scorching second half, knocking on the doors of perfection and opening the doors of perception. Treat your ears over at Grateful Dead of the Day.
