Jerry played Wolf for the last time with the Dead on this day in 1993, and he uses it to scorch a Johnny B. Goode in the early going. Later, the drummers usher in a Mardi Gras parade - with Bill Clinton smoking a joint - before suddenly birthing an Iko in a truly magical transition. Ornette Coleman sits in, helping take an Other One into an intricately layered Stella out of Space. Listen to it all at Grateful Dead of the Day.
This is the penultimate night of the epic run at the Capitol Theater. And the Dead put in another command performance. It would have been absolutely mind blowing to have been there for all six nights of the run. At least the rest of us can still listen to it now.
You have probably heard the stories about a giant Bill Clinton smoking a joint during the Mardi Gras parade at this show; after all, we just mentioned it above. Now we have the video evidence. Check it out, along with Ornette Coleman sitting in, a didgeridoo in Drums, and a crazy jazzy exploration into The Other One and Stella Blue at Grateful Dead of the Day.
