The Dead tapped some aloha spirit, delivering a show for the ages in Hawaii on this day back in 1970. There is so much to love here including a crisp and bright China> Rider and potentially best-ever Black Peter. But the heart of the show is the last 80 minutes of music, encompassing a raging Other One, transcendent Dark Star, magnificent Stephen, and 40-minute Lovelight on which Pig balls, raps, and flat-out preaches while the rest of the boys back him up in a rushing, bluesy, psychedelic blur of headiness.
