On the eve of the legendary New Orleans bust, the Dead opened the Big Easy's famed rock venue The Warehouse. The show also marked the last with TC, as he and the band parted ways. The music itself is off the charts. Just check out the unrefined complexity of China Cat and the bright and windswept Rider, the insatiable feast of fiery jamming that is Cumberland, the fecund and exploratory Good Lovin', and the brilliant 30-minute Other One. Listen to it all and read more about the events of the day at Grateful Dead of the Day.

There’s a great documentary on The Warehouse. Could not have been a cooler bunch of folks running it.
I'm working on a comparison piece between a concert I attended at Fillmore East in 1970 and a March 2025 Dead and Co show I intend to see at Sphere, Las Vegas. It's a lot of fun typing it Into Substack as we speak. You, my man, are deep into the wonder they brought early on. Thank you for sharing.
