On this day back in 1979, Brent finished his first tour with the Dead, putting his mark on the show with some fiery keys and heady vocals. Just listen to him and Jerry on Franklin's and take in his work alongside Bobby on Passenger. Then just keep the show on for a top-shelf second set Sugaree, a Playin'> Terrapin, a hell of a good Stella> Truckin', and - perhaps best of all - the Shakedown encore. Enjoy it all on a Hunter Seamon's matrix over at Grateful Dead of the Day.
The Dead come out swinging with Dancin' on the splendid capper to the two-show run at Merriweather back in '85. And things stay hot from there including a scorching Let It Grow, a massive Scarlet> Fire> Playin'> UJB, and stellar Dear Mr. Fantasy. You know the boys were feeling it when they double the encore, closing out with Satisfaction> Baby Blue. Sit back and take it all in.
Come for Vinnie's vocals on the teenage wasteland, but stay for Bobby's incredible jump/power chord on this Beatles cover double-shot from this day in 1992. Watch it now!
