The summer tour dates continue to roll along with a great show from this day in 1990 at RFK. The Dark Star in the second set is an incredible piece of perfection, jazzy and orchestral before turning into a face-melting haunted house spectacle, but there are tons of other tasty nugs, including Just A Little Light, Cassidy, and the Box of Rain second set opener. Listen to the entire show at Grateful Dead of the Day.
Back in their hometown for the first time since returning from the hiatus, the Dead opened a six-show run at the Orpheum on this day in ‘76 with a mellow, yet still sizzling, Music Never Stopped. The goodness continued throughout the first set including when they brought back - and absolutely torched - Minglewood after a five-year hiatus. But it is the Help> Slip> Franklin's in the second half that is the crux of the show. Take it all in and enjoy!
While Dylan's sets with the Dead were not the highlights of their joint 1987 summer tour, it is still pretty cool to watch them on stage together on this crisp remastered video from this day at Giants.
