We have a crisp and complete recording from a sensational proto-Dead show on this day in 1966. Bobby cheeses out in bubble gum fashion with a Cardboard Cowboy, Pig bawls a Big Boss Man, and the boys deliver some hardcore psychedelia with Cream Puff War and Viola Lee. For the second and final time in the Dead's history, Janis Joplin joins Pig on Lovelight on this day in 1970. There is some fabulous rapping banter - getting downright saucy - between her and Ron, and the tune is just out of this world. But don't sleep on the second set with its outstanding Attics of My Life and NFA> Stephen> UJB. Check it all out.
