The second set from Alpine Valley on this day in 1989 is a monster. A fantastic Rider and a really out there Playin' that suddenly finds the UJB theme are face-melting in their own right, but the Standing On The Moon is the real crux, so beautiful and mesmerizing. The boys also put a great cap on the evening, breaking out We Bid You Goodnight after a dozen years before rocking out with a fiery Johnny B. Goode. Listen to the entire show and relive the glories of Alpine at Grateful Dead of the Day.
With one of the best Comes A Times - cool and laidback with incredible interplay between Keith and Jerry - ever and a heady, languid Other One> Eyes> Other One, this show from the Orpheum is off the charts, especially if you enjoy the dulcet sound and serene feel of 1976. Give it a whirl.
