The last show ever at Alpine Valley is epic with an Other One> Wheel> Morning Dew out of Space, a mighty Terrapin, and best-ever Foolish Heart. But the highlight of the entire night just might be found at the end of the first set as Jerry absolutely eviscerates West LA Fadeaway and Deal while a fantastic, top-shelf Desolation Row lurks in between. Celebrate those summer amphitheater shows by listening to one of the best from 1989.
Today's 1989 show from Alpine is so good, there is no reason to not also take it in on video, especially on remastered vid like we have here.
This show is one of the better all-round efforts of the lackluster 1987 Dylan and the Dead stadium tour. In fact, Jerry had put together his selections for the Dylan and the Dead album and included five tracks from this night. But Dylan rejected Jerry's choices and, instead, cobbled together the uninspired official release (which does include the Queen Jane - one of the best songs on the album - from this show).
