It was a slow day in Grateful Dead history with only one show, at Deer Creek back in 1994. There, the band debuted Childhood's End and Matilda Matilda and played a lovely Dew. With some nasty storms in the area and rain falling down, the boys also opened up the second set with a string of rain tunes: Box, Samba, and LL Rain. Then, just as the precipitation ended and the sun broke through the clouds, the Dead hit the first notes of Here Comes Sunshine drawing raucous cheers and creating a very special moment. Listen to it all at Grateful Dead of the Day.
If you are looking for some other Dead to listen to, you might want to cue up the first Close Encounters Jam, which comes in the midst of a ferocious Other One> Stephen from McArthur Court at the University of Oregon on January 22, 1978. Or, you could always go out to the Boston Music on December 2, 1971, when Pigpen had just returned to the band and Keith was early in his tenure. Alternatively, you can always use Grateful Dead of the Day’s search functionality to find a great show.
