Celebrate the Fourth with the Dead at Rich Stadium back in 1989. Brent and Jerry are on fire throughout, trading licks in the closing, very memorable Not Fade Away, which follows a beautiful Morning Dew. And, of course, there is a US Blues encore! Give the show a listen at Grateful Dead of the Day and, for those of you in the States, have a great Independence Day.
Celebrating America's birthday in Austin back in 1981, Bobby flubbed the key "Leaving Texas, fourth day of July" lyric in the opening Jack Straw. But that did not stop the boys from putting in a high-energy set, including a smoking Rooster, rocking Jed, and sick Minglewood before a ferocious China> Rider. They keep it going in the second half on an airy Birdsong into a relentless spacey Playin' and a funky NFA into a stirring Wharf Rat. Give it all a listen.
It wouldn't be a Fourth of July without US Blues. Watch this remastered video of the one from Buffalo on this day in 1989.
