With two shows - each including both an acoustic and electric set - the Dead rocked the Capitol Theater on this day in 1970. There is so much good music here, including a lovely Cold Jordan, but you cannot miss the Dark Star> Attics> Dark Star> Sugar Mags> Dark Star> Stephen that is just insane (and capped by a China> Rider!). Give it a listen at Grateful Dead of the Day.
Lighting out on a bright and sunny day, the Dead jump start the show in Cinci back in 1985 with a fiery and aggressive Alabama Getaway. But by the time that set culminates in a rapacious and radiant Let It Grow, storm clouds billowed, bringing torrential rain, cloud to ground lightning, and rolling thunder for the second set. But the boys get the crowd dancing in the downpour with Aiko before matching the storm with a powerful Samson, conjuring and cajoling the gods with a soulful He’s Gone, and taunting the powers that be on Smokestack Lightning. The rhythm devils finally put the storm on its heels, opening the way for a Comes a Time, Other One suite, and killer Wharf Rat. Give all the Dead's sorcery and the crowd's raucous appreciation a listen on Hunter Seamon's crystalline matrix.
