The Dead's last show of Spring '77 was, like the entire tour, one for the ages. And the second set is the centerpiece of it, with a monster Help> Slip> Franklin's and an otherworldy Stephen> NFA> Drums> Stephen bracketed by a powerful Estimated and lovely Terrapin. This is one of the finest nights of ’77 and, really, the band's entire thirty-year run. Sit back and listen to it all at Grateful Dead of the Day.
On this day in 1984, the boys stormed into California’s capital and delivered a superb night of music, starting with a bouncy Iko to get everyone up and dancing. A blazing Deal, exuberant Sugar Mags, and poignant Black Peter are all highlights, but the crux is the Playin'> China Doll> Playin' replete with Brent's keys, Phil's meaty bombs, and Jerry's exquisite guitar. Give the entire show a listen.
