From Grateful Dead of the Day
Owsley "Bear" Stanley, who created over 5 million doses of LSD in the 60s, built the Wall of Sound, designed the Stealie, and accomplished so much more passed away on this day in 2011. Celebrate Owsley's life and his immense impact on the Grateful Dead while reading our bio.

On this day in 1988, the Grateful Dead swept the Bammies, the Bay Area Music Awards. Jerry had to embarrassingly accept both guitarist of the year and musician of the year awards, swearing at Bill Graham, "Never do this to me again, Bill!"
