Though the Dead played over 40 tunes, they crushed every one of them on this day in 1970. Some of the highlights include Attics of My Life, a ripping Stephen> Other One, a haunting Dew, a jammed out Dark Star, a half-hour Lovelight, and an otherworldly Cold Jordan to close out the evening. There is just so much here, and it is all so tasty. Give it a good listen at Grateful Dead of the Day.
On a steamy hot May 1977 night in St. Louis, the Dead are having a high time, playing jokes on each other, debuting Passenger and Iko, and pairing Estimated and Eyes for the first time. The band plays with joy throughout the evening, and the music reflects that, no more so than on the rocking end: Stephen> NFA> Iko> NFA> Sugar Mags with an Uncle John’s encore. Listen to it all at Grateful Dead of the Day and smile, smile, smile.
