With raw primal energy, the boys raged through their set at the Big Rock Pow-Wow on this day back in 1969. It all finishes off with a ripping Dark Star, largely devoid of spaciness, that goes into a brilliant, psychedelic Stephen> Eleven before the band closes out with a monster Pig-fronted Lovelight. Opening their final stand of Europe '72, the Dead started off with a monster 19-song set, including an earth-shattering Playin', Pig-led Two Souls in Communion (in his 5th to last show), and funky first-time Rockin’ Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flu. And the second half does not let up with a Dark Star> Dew, ripping Sugar Mags, and feverish GDTRFB> NFA> Hey Bo Diddley> NFA to cap it.
