The infamous "Acid Punch Show," where someone brought two garbage cans full of laced cider into a Dead show, happened back on this day in 1971. As the going got weird, the boys turned pro, turning in a phenomenal second set that started with Truckin'> Drums> Other One> Wharf Rat and finished off with an old-school NFA> GDTRFB> NFA. Catch the story of the acid and listen to the entire show.
This 1992 show is a great example of both the difficulties the band encountered and the incredible music that they still delivered in the 90s. Jerry misses an entire verse of Peggy-O, mutters "motherfucker" to himself on Jack-A-Roe, and provokes Bobby to request "less Garcia" in the midst of Walkin' Blues. But there is some great playing, and not just by the rhythm devils who deliver a 19-minute Drums tour-de-force. Promised Land, China> Rider, and Watchtower> China Doll are all sweet, but the Playin' is the crux. Despite all the issues, tell us you would not hit up the Sam Boyd Silver Bowl to see the boys if someone offered you the miracle time machine trip right now. Do the next best thing, watch the show on video or listen to the board.
