On this day back in 1972, the Dead played the first night of a short stand at the Olympia Theater in Paris. They put up nearly thirty tunes and played them all ridiculously well. The highlight, though, is the Truckin'> TOO> Other One> TOO> Bobby McGee> TOO> Wharf Rat, which will almost surely blow your mind. Give the entire massive show a listen at Grateful Dead of the Day.
Without administration permission and amidst heavy police presence, strike organizers smuggled the Dead into the center of a student occupied Columbia University on this day in 1968. The Dead played a smoking set, some of which was captured on crisp video. Read more and listen to the magic.
Back in 1987 at the Frost, Brent delivered a Little Bunny Foo Foo for the ages. But the entire afternoon was a blast, from the high energy Touch of Grey> Promised Land opener to the Not Fade Away closer that, after the crowd kept the chant going, the Dead reprised in the encore before segueing to a super fun Mighty Quinn. Take it all in and smile, smile, smile.
