In the middle of the the second set on this day in 1978, the band unleashes an epic, funked-up, disco-strong Shakedown. Hamza el Din joins Mickey and Billy on the Drums that follows, taking it into Ollin Arageed, which, in its third stateside appearance here, hits its absolute apotheosis. Then, what has to be the dankest opening to Fire On The Mountain emerges. Give all the magic from this day a listen at Grateful Dead of the Day.
We happen to have a beautiful remastered video of the aforementioned 1978 show, including the soundcheck, from the Capitol Theater in Jersey, and it is a must watch, especially the Drums> Ollin Arrageed> Fire On The Mountain with Hamza El Din. Head over to Grateful Dead of the Day, put this on the big screen, and fire it up!
