In their first show back since the epic Warfield-Radio City runs in October 1980, the Dead threw down an all electric beauty at the Sportatorium in southern Florida. On this day, an inventive and moody Althea kicked the music into high gear in the middle of the first set, and the boys did not look back. Among other highlights, Brent asserted himself on a milky, cosmic Cold Rain and Snow; the drummers backed a heady, churning jam on Eyes; and a magisterially down and out Wharf Rat rose out of Space.
