The boys are bursting with energy in the first set of the show from this day in 1977, dealing a best-ever Half Step and a delicious Big River among other highlights. The second set is all that and more with an opening jam by Phil, another ethereal Eyes, and a feisty Other One. There are also - count 'em - three Take a Step Backs here. Give it all a listen at Grateful Dead of the Day.
Ned Lagin was still in school at MIT, but he made the trip to Port Chester back in 1970 to play with the Dead for the first time on The Other One> Dark Star> Stephen. Don't miss those or the two righteous Pigpen tunes that bookend the show: Hard To Handle and Lovelight. Actually, we recommend just listening to it all.
