Check out the tasty Jed, fresh Jack-A-Roe, and always hot Deal in the first half of the show from this day in 1979. But the second stanza - particularly that Playin' (can you say more cowbell!) out of the set-opening Terrapin - is really where it is at. Give it all a listen at Grateful Dead of the Day.
On this day in '77, the Dead put an appropriately awesome cap on the Fall tour that had, more or less, begun at Englishtown. The first set is one to behold, from the soaring Half Step opener to the incendiary Music Never Stopped at its end. And the second half features a Scarlet> Fire (check out that transition) and smoking Stephen sandwich with an epic Wharf Rat at its heart. But it is the absolute barn burner of a Truckin' to close it out that takes the cake. Take the entire show in now.
