We head out to the 1980 15-show Warfield run again today, but that is only because the music is really that good. And, once again, it is the acoustic set that makes it so fine, especially that luscious Heaven Help the Fool. But there are some treats as the boys go electric, including a sweet Althea and an absolutely beautiful Brokedown encore. Give it all a listen at Grateful Dead of the Day.
Oh my this show is brilliant. From the opening Help> Slip> Franklin's to the oh so pretty Peggy-O to the heavy power chords and blazing pace of the Let It Grow - all in the first set - this is Dead '77 gold. And things just continue in the second half with a nutty Dancin' In The Streets, unreal Estimated> Eyes, an inventive NFA, and so much more. Groove to it all now!
Opening with Let the Good Times Roll, the Dead make sure that is exactly what happens on this 1989 night in Jersey. Enjoy it all on video, including the Wheel> Watchtower> Black Peter out of Space.
Saturday Night Live debuted on this day in 1975. The Grateful Dead enjoyed close relationships with many of the cast members, but none more than John Belushi. Read about Belushi's connection with the Dead and his many exploits with the band.
