Out in Houston on this day in 1977, the Dead lit up the first set with heady music and lots of Texas references. In the second half there is an outrageous Playin' that segues into Drums> Wheel> Wharf Rat, and is just so tasty. That Playin' finally gets finished in the encore, but not before the boys start to cap off the night with a brilliant Brokedown. Check it all out at Grateful Dead of the Day.
The Dead returned to Los Angeles on this day in 1976 for the first time in three years and threw down within the sumptuous confines of the sonically blessed Shrine Auditorium. A standalone Scarlet, bursting at the seams with pure unadulterated Dead outrageousness, and a Dancin'> Wharf Rat> Dancin' that nearly brought down the hallowed venue are the stellar lodestones around which the rest of the show orbits. You're going to want to cue this beauty up at Grateful Dead of the Day.
The vid could be crisper, but this is a sweet 1989 show...and being able to watch as well as listen to it makes it all the better. Enjoy!
