The boys thought this was their penultimate show, and they were sure playing like it. The Must Have Been the Roses is so heartfelt and emotional and the Eyes> China Doll is something to behold. But it is the Truckin' with a massive Caution jam stuffed inside of it that really takes the night. Give it all a listen at Grateful Dead of the Day.
Keith joined the band on stage for the first time as the Dead, on the campus of the University of Minnesota, kicked off a tour. Check out Keith's first show.
Here is another video from the 1990 European tour, this time from Berlin with a heady second set of Scarlet> Fire, LL Rain, and Terrapin followed by The Other One> Wharf Rat> Around and Around out of Space before a Sugar Mags closer. Watch it all over on the site!
On this day in 1940, the Kleinhans Music Hall, where the Dead played with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra back in 1970, opened. Read all about the Dead jamming with the orchestra in the mighty Kleinhans for a "Philharmonic Rock Marathon.”
