Hamza El Din and the drummers get things going with a mesmerizing, goose bump inducing jam before the rest of the boys slowly come in on Ollin Arageed. But there is so much more here, including a hypnotic section in the midst of Estimated, a bluesy Lee Oskar fueled Mojo jam into a smoking Other One, and a Stella that might just bring tears to your eyes. This video captures the bulk of the second set, missing only the final Stella and Sugar Mags. While the video is not great, the music rips, and there is a fun little happy birthday tuning for Brent before the Wang Dang Doodle. Enjoy and happy birthday Brent!
Elvin Bishop, the great blues guitarist, was also born on this day in 1942. He played with the Dead on a number of occasions, including taking over when Jerry was too dosed to play back in 1969. Celebrate Elvin’s birthday and read more about him and his association with the Dead.
