Well, my excitement at having Archive back up was short-lived. They are once again down, but confident they will be up again soon. In the meantime, there are still shows to explore and video to watch over at Grateful Dead of the Day.
The Deadheads - and possibly Bobby and Billy - get into a little fisticuffs with security to put an end to this night in 1973, but not before some searing, transcendental music with Keith on the house's mighty Wurlitzer and the rest of the boys bringing it. Listen to the show and read all about the melee at Grateful Dead of the Day.
The Dead played twenty-five acoustic sets through September and October 1980, and today's might just be the best of them all, from the sumptuous jam in Cassidy to the precious China Doll to the vibrant Dark Hollow, this one is good from top to bottom. But don’t sleep on the electric sets with a bright and lucid Mexicali Blues before a top-shelf Althea, among other treats. Take it all in.
October 23rd Shows and Recordings:
1970 - McDonough Arena, Georgetown University - Washington, DC
1972 - Milwaukee Performing Arts Center - Milwaukee, Wisconsin
