Dark Star, perfectly sublime with the first Feeling Groovy jam, begins the recording. Then a Stephen pours down like a waterfall, sanctifying and refreshing before the whirling organ marking the beginning of a joyous Eleven. Later, a magnificent Lovelight, bawdy with Pig's rapping while Jerry's guitar runs add another level of pure bliss. This is 1969 perfection...listen to it now at Grateful Dead of the Day.
The Shakedown on this day in 1979 was an all-timer. Take it in and stay for the fiery Passenger, breathtaking Eyes, and absolutely gorgeous Stella Blue. Listen to it all.
