Brent is an absolute force during the Dead's show on this day back in 1987. He sparks so many jams and lays in luscious runs and fills all through the night at Shoreline. The rest of the boys are no slouches either, especially in the second set, which begins with a spunky Maggie's Farm into a fiery Cumberland. There is also a sweet LL Rain> Terrapin, a Quinn encore, the last Brother Esau ever, a little Addams Family tuning, and, oh yeah, an Other One> Stella, Bird Song, and so much more. The first set from the Motor City on this day is solid '76 magic, including a barnburner of a standalone Scarlet Begonias. But the second half is just flat out off the charts, including a monster, mesmerizing Playin', a lovely Wheel with an inventive extended jam, and a forty-minute bender of a Dancin'> NFA> Dancin'> Around and Around to close it out.
