The only thing better than two sets of the Dead is three, and that is what the boys delivered all through October of 1980, including on this fine night from their 15-date stand at the Warfield. The opening acoustic set is so pretty, especially the Ripple and Been All Around the World. With a Blues For Allah jam and a mournful He's Gone, the Dead eulogized Anwar El-Sadat, who had been assassinated on this day in 1981. But this show from the fall European tour encompasses so much more than that, from the funky Shakedown opener to the joyous Man Smart Woman Smarter to the luscious and laid back Estimated to an extraordinary final jam in Stella to Bobby's rapping on Good Lovin'.
